Scientific tour -Altash Key Water Control Project (7:00-21:00)

Located in the Yerqiang River basin in southern Xinjiang, the Altash Key Water Control Project has an installed capacity of 755,000 kW and designed annual generating capacity of 2.186 billion KWH. It is one of the 172 major water-saving and water-supply projects promoted by The State Council and one of the 100 major projects during the national "13th Five-Year Plan" period. It is also the largest water conservancy project in Xinjiang at present, and it was connected to the grid with full capacity in August 2021.

The General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out at the 3rd Forum on the Work of the Central Committee of Xinjiang that a number of modern large-scale water conservancy projects, such as Altash, have solved the thousand-year flood problems of the Yerqiang River, benefiting 2.4 million people along the river.
